Players, with the Kalgoorlie Tour coming up in 2 months it would be wise for you to begin to develop an understanding of the value placed on Football in the Goldfields. They have produced several champions, Sandover, Simpson and Norm Smith Medalists over many era's in both the WAFL and VFL / AFL. Go to the Goldfields Football League website - you will find it in the links list and do some research. After exploring the site and discovering some of the regions football history, post an intelligent comment about something you have discovered. I would like a contribution from each Year 10 Program Player. I will be checking comments regularly so make sure I don't have to ask why you haven't.

and Dick Robinson from railways has the most goals ever in a season with 139 in 1974
On Saturday, July 24, 1993, the GFL staged a historical re-enactment of the first official GFL fixture played on July 29, 1896 - between Hannans and Boulder
Luke -
The GFL tryed but was unsuccessful to enter a team in the WA Football League.
And that Matt Virgo (The Best Football Player Ever from KANGAS!) Made All Australian selection and vice-captain.
In 1951, on May 27 onwards the junior association came under the league preasure because of money problems
In 1945, after three seasons of junior football the age restriction was lifted and the game once again reverted to open football.fqny
Luke - Matt was astudent in my PE classes while I was up in Kal. A terrific young blike with a great amount of footy ability for sure. Definitely one of Kanga's finest, although he didn't play much footy for the senior club as he left for Subi in the WAFL.
Kambalda
Both League and Reserves teams were extremely weak when it first started but the Club was built into one of the strongest clubs in the late 70’s and early 80’s, boasting several premierships across all divisions and a string of League Fairest & Best winners
Back in 1896 was when football in the golfields originated. It was called the Hannans District Football Association and it consisted of 4 teams. Hannans, Boulder, Victorians and White Feather (Kanowna)and that year Boulder won the premiership
in the GFL the Mines won the premiership 4 years in a row from 1967 to 1970
they beat the Railways 2 (1967 & 1970) and Boulder 2 (1968 & 1969)
R. Robinson from the Railways is the highest goal scorer recorded with 139 goals in a season
